Chattanooga - This n' That

A few random trip highlights...riding the free trolley around downtown Chattanooga.  Anna loved being able to stand as the bus traveled from stop to stop.  We visited the Chattanooga Choo-Choo but I didn't take a picture.

After leaving the downtown area we stopped by the National Cemetery.  It is the oldest military cemetery in the US and second in size to Arlington.  Originally created for union troops in the civil war, it continues to receive our nation's veterans and even has some German POWs from WWI.  Seeing the hills covered with grave markers is a sobering sight.

The most recent date we saw was from 2011.   The oldest was from June of 1864.  Using an online database I was able to read an account of the battles whose dates matched up with some of the gravestones we saw.
