North Side of LA
We have wanted to visit several places north of LA since our return to California but haven't managed to get up there. It's a bit far for day tripping due to traffic so we decided to make a vacation out of several short stops. Peter's 40th birthday presented an opportunity to go.
Thursday we drove up and toured the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. The highlight for everyone was touring a retired Air Force One.

Playing with a teleprompter was also fun. She probably won't be the first female president of the United States but she has a lot she'd like to say!

In the afternoon we drove to Vasquez Rocks for some hiking. Anna and Micah would both enjoy spending more time there. Micah wants to hike to the top of every peak and Anna wants to draw them.
Friday morning included a trip to visit the Grace To You office and radio studio. Peter's college roommate gave us a personal tour.
It was fun to see the behind the scenes side of Dr. MacArthur's ministry. We saw it all: busy ladies who answer phones in customer service, servers that host the website, computer programs used to edit each message, Phil Johnson's office, MacArthur's notes, and the recording studio. Hearing the insider stories and meeting faces behind the names we've heard for many years was especially enjoyable.
After the studio we went to The Master's University to look at the campus remodel, visit some favorite professors, and buy some new t-shirts. We had lunch in the cafeteria and reminisced about the good old days.
Saturday morning took us to the Getty Villa (highlight for the kids: seeing a mummy) and then home.
