Beach Party
Papa and Grandma Sauder came to Alabama to go to the beach with us. We had a great time as you can see.
Nothing interesting about this picture, it's just the only one I could find of Peter and I. Taking the ferry to Dauphin Island was fun and we even spotted a dolphin on the trip back. We would have liked to explore more of the island but the trolley is shut down in the fall. It would have been nice for the tourism lady at the chamber of commerce to mention that to me when I called to ask the price of riding it.
We visited the Gulf Shores Steamer, a restaurant I have wanted to try for a while. This enormous platter of food came with pliers for cracking the crab legs and containers of butter and dipping sauce.. Yummy! That same day we had thought we would try and enjoy shrimp for all meals. But we discovered that after you have shrimp and gouda for breakfast and shrimp and crab for lunch, you don't much care what it will come with at dinner because you aren't interested in any more shrimp.
Micah contemplates the two year old alligator he got to hold at Alligator Alley. I held this one as well but I admit these creatures give me the creeps! I am not sure I will ever consider lake/creek swimming in the south ever again.

With the extra day we had with Papa and Grandma we visited our local state park for a short. We got a serious picture at this same bench but the silly picture was so much more fun:)

That's awesome! I'm glad you got to take them down there.
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't it strange that you saw Dolphins on the way to Dauphin Island? Why didn't they just spell it like we all expect it to be spelled? I've wondered that my whole life.
