Birmingham, AL

Day 1

The first leg of travel for our house hunting trip took us to LA with a flight continuing on to Nashville.  As the Nashville travelers starting getting on the plane, we had a "not in Kansas anymore" type of moment.  The first lady was all charm and quickly struck up a conversation with Micah (she did the talking).  The second felt free to pinch his chubby little legs.  The third was carrying ukulele.  On my many trips to Portland and Seattle, I've noticed that travelers to different parts of the county can be identified by sight (Pacific Northwest: dressed shades of blue, green, and Goretec).  The south is no different.

Our trip went fine.  Micah didn't have his own seat for the long flight but he managed to get a nap anyway.  Although at first he seemed a bit overwhelmed, he soon warmed to the idea of adventure.  As we got ready to land in Birmingham, Peter said "Home sweet, home."  An odd feeling when I've never actually been there before.  Micah felt right at home in the hotel.  Between dinner and bed, he spent his time stacking up piles of pillows to jump into.

We'll let you know how Day 2 goes.

  1. I can't wait to see pictures and hear more. Okay, how many times have you sung or listen to "Sweet Home Alabama?" It pops into my head every time I think of you all these days. :)
