Lowe's @ 6am
So...Lowe's had a drill bit set that Peter liked (reg 50 for 20) and I decided that I would brave the crowds to get it for him. It was a mad house out there!
On the drive to Lowe's, our tiny Radio Shack in a random little shopping corner already had 30 people out front. While sitting at the corner of Greenback and San Juan, I saw three people run red lights and trigger the camera to issue themselves a speeding ticket. Doesn't a $300 ticket defeat the purpose of getting out for a sale?
Lowe's only had about 30 people in line when I arrived at 5:45 but there were more than 100 when the doors opened. Some people tried to squeeze into the side shopping cart door as the main door opened and boy did the crowd give them some grief. One lady in line was coordinating the purchases of her family at three stores via cell phone. ("You got the _____, good. Now go to _______and get the ____"). Apparently Walmart's line of several hundred people wrapped around Costco and the carts were predistributed through the aisles to prevent road rage. The Citrus Heights police were out on bikes patrolling the lines also.
The crowd at Lowe's was relatively uneventful. They had the majority of the doorbuster items in a central display area staffed with plenty of help. Peter's item was stashed way back in the regular commercial area so I was able to get there before the rest of the crowd located them (think roving bands of pirahnas.) I didn't have to speed walk or curse and I even let a nice old grandpa go ahead of me.
Next stop, the Sacramento Zoo for free admission day.
