Heads Down, Thumbs Up!

It's official: we've got ourselves a thumb sucker. Anna has taken to signalling her readiness for a nap by sticking her thumb in her mouth. (The other four fingers usually go up her nose or poke her eyes, I think she's still trying to find a comfortable place for them.) When I know she's getting tired, I take her to her room and sit on the bed while she chews on a book. The quietness and low lights usually get her drowsy in just a few minutes. They she'll stick her thumb in her mouth (sometimes so far that she gags), twist her head back and lay it on my shoulder (aww:), and close her eyes. I zip her into her sleep sack, lay her in the crib, and don't hear another peep.
