Orange Chicken
For dinner tonight, we made orange chicken. This is by far Peter's favorite dish to order at Chinese restaurants. Actually, Peter made the dinner and I occupied Anna. The recipe was from Cook's magazine and therefore required what seemed like every kitchen tool available including a micro plane and a candy thermometer. The frying also required a splatter screen but we didn't have one. At least, not until Peter got out MY birthday present that he had been hiding. (If a birthday present is given more than 3 weeks early, does that disqualify its classification as a birthday gift and therefore mean that a new birthday present is needed? Just wondering.)
The orange chicken was the best ever and we ate all of it. We would expect nothing less of a Cook's magazine recipe.

Peter's Dad here:
ReplyDeletePeter has always been a great cook. Quite a few years ago in the Los Banos
area, Peter David and myself were disassembling grain bins.... Peter was our faithful and accomplished "camp" cookie.
Thanks again Peter
Dad
P.S. Peter was still in grade school.
Well, I am impressed that Peter got you a birthday gift three weeks in advance.
ReplyDeleteYes... I believe it still counts as a birthday gift or at the very least, an "I love your cooking" gift. :)

Of course it doesn't count Another gift is in order. :) That was just an "I love you" or a "we need this" gift. The rule with birthday gifts from husbands is that it has to be given within 3 days to count. :)
