Odd and Ends

Just so you know, mothers aren't the only ones that "lose their minds." A few days ago at work, I came back from lunch to find a nicely wrapped cookie sandwich type dessert that my marketing manager had left on my desk for me as a snack. I took a few bites before I realized it was simply 3 cookies stacked together and was NOT a “cookie sandwich.” Ah well.......

In other work related news, all regulatory hurdles have been cleared in the U.S. and Canada relating to Enterprise's purchase of Vanguard Car Rental (Alamo and National.) The transaction is expected to close 8/1/07. We've only seen a few small changes so far like integrating Outlook programs so that we have access to email and calendars between the companies. That, and they have promoted some Enterprise people to the Vanguard positions of President and VP of Finance.

I know I've mentioned this before, but http://www.yapta.com/ is a pretty cool site for those that do a lot (or any for that matter) of air travel. Not only does it watch specific itineraries for you and let you know when the price has dropped, but once you buy a ticket you can enter your information and it will tell you if the price ever drops below your purchase price. I had plugged in my purchase information for two sets of tickets, and got an email notifying me that the prices dropped ($30 on one and a total of $116 on the other.) I was able to get a credit voucher from the airline to use on the next purchase, so it really works! It's not available with all the airlines yet, but they're adding more as time goes by. Now I sound like an advertisement.....
